Our apartment was wonderful. Our host, Lydia, was warm and friendly (she speaks some English) and provided everything we needed and more, including home grown lemons and vino! The rooms were modern and brightly decorated and the balcony has fantastic views over the village and part of the sea. The roof terrace, which guests can use, also has beautiful views. Lydia provided lots of information about activities and sightseeing in Cinque Terre. We would not hesitate to recommend Casa Il Carugio to others and would happily go back there ourselves.
Walk between Corniglia and Vernazza is recommended. San Matteo cafe across the alleyway from Il Casa Il Carugio has very good coffee and reasonably priced food. We caught a train to Santa Marghurita and walked to Portofino (one hour) which was beautiful. Manarola is also beautiful.
