Perched on a hillside on the Italian Riviera only 8 km from the historic city of Genova is the country house Agriturismo Sant'Ilario run by the hosts Viviana & Rinaldo and their three children. The panoramic sea views from the pool are something else and these alone make the trip but worthwhile, but then when you taste the food at the legendary restaurant Taverna del Sole, the list of reasons why you made a wise choice to stay here start to add up.
Olive groves, home-grown produce and Restaurant Taverna del Sole
Agriturismo Sant'Ilario is located on 10 acres of land up behind rocky outcrops in Nervi. The furthest point on the plot (about 15 minutes walk), is where the animal husbandry takes place, including goats, pigs and cows. The family produces both olive oil, jams, cakes, pickled vegetables and rose juice. Many of the products can be tasted in the restaurant, purchased on site, at one of their stores in Nervi, or even in the centre of Genoa. Its restaurant serves local dishes such as rabbit, Trofie (a type of pasta with pesto) and other meat and fish dishes. It is only available to guests during weekdays, while on the weekends it is very popular with outside guests, so at times it can be quite crowded. The restaurant can seat approx. 100 diners, and if you wish to dine there you need to book it in the morning. There is no half-board option but you can order a la carte. Please note that the restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings. Breakfast is served as a buffet.

Swimming pool and excursions
The swimming pool is built in a panoramic position, and you will find a shower and some sun beds on the poolside terrace. There is also a playground for children in the beautiful blooming garden. As an alternative to the pool, you can swim off the rocks in Genoa Nervi which is only approx. 2 km away. The bus stop approx. 500 metres from the site is served by a minibus that goes to Nervi, from where you can take the bus to Genoa, a tourist boat to Cinque Terre or a train in all directions. The seafront promenade from Nervi to the centre of Genoa is very beautiful - and is well attended by promenading Italians with the girlfriend in one hand and an ice cream in the other! There is no parking on site but there is free public parking approx. 150 m away - and finally there are 40 wide stairs up to the place. There is usually space to park, however on Saturday night and Sunday lunchtime it can become crowded. Alternatively, you can book parking in the garage (approx. 200 m away) for a surcharge.

Four of the rooms have sea views while the Others face to the rear. The rooms are of a medium standard. They all have air conditioning, LCD satellite TV and a bathroom with toilet, hair dryer and a shower. In two of the rooms with sea view and two of the rooms without sea view there is the possibility of an extra bed. There is no wi-fi in the rooms but there is a connection in the restaurant / main building.
