The aquarium was built in the period 1989-1992 in "Porto Antico" -an ancient port of Genoa. It consists of 48 pools, 4 of them are connected to the sea and have two different platforms for viewing. In the pools you can admire dolphins, sharks, turtles, octopuses and many other species.
The area around the "Porto Antico" is in constant development, and in addition to the aquarium you will also find also "La Biosfera" here; a large dome directly over the water surface. The dome has been transformed into a tropical forest with many different species, such as amphibians, reptiles, insects and birds. "La Biosfera" is linked to the aquarium. In the port area you will also find the panoramic lift "Bigo" hovering up to 40 meters above the ground. From here you get a fantastic 360 degree view of Genoa.
