In addition to enjoying the sweet life at a hotel with a pool and wonderful views, here you are close to the town and can easily walk when you want to visit the beach, shops and restaurants or go to the train station to visit other towns. In short, you don't have to drive at all once you get here.
The Leopold Hotel is perched on a hill overlooking the sea and the rocky coast that has made the Cinque Terre and the region so famous. The views from the hotel are breathtaking and you can easily walk to the beach from here (100 m from the rooms) down a staircase of about 90 steps. Moneglia town centre is approx. 500 metres away and the railway station approx. 300 metres. You can choose between a public beach with pebbles (nearest) or a sandy beach (private - for a fee). Moneglia offers a wide choice of restaurants (in addition to the hotel) and a railway station serving the town of Monterosso; one of the famous towns of the Cinque Terre is only three stops (15 minutes) away. From the hotel you can not hear the train as it passes on the other side of the hill. In the hotel grounds there is a large football field but it is more often used as a parking lot these days.

The panoramic infinity pool is certainly one of the major attractions at this hotel. Above the pool on two levels you will find two beautiful sun terraces with loungers. On the upper terrace, there is also a small playground for children. Note that families with children are welcomed with open arms, but that the hotel also appreciates the peace & quiet in a way so that all guests can enjoy their holiday. A road runs in front of the pool but it is a dead end and only serves this hotel and two others. At the entrance to the hotel, you can enjoy the sun (or shade) on the big half-roofed communal terrace with white wrought iron furniture and sun loungers. It is recommended to book parking (for a fee) in the hotel, as there is no public parking at the hotel. The hotel offers garage parking right by the entrance, but the descent is a little steep. Alternatively, they have parking space on two floors approx. 40 m away, which costs a little less. On the lower level it is obviously covered and shaded while the upper level is under the open sky. Up or down costs the same - and the spaces are allocated on a 'first come, first served basis.
The hotel is run by Lucia (who speaks English, German and French), her husband Leopoldo and mother-in-law Margherita. Also their grandchildren help and are very proud of the family business. Inside the hotel there is a lobby with a reception, a bar and seating area with large LCD TV. There is also a lift, a small gym with three machines (on the 4th floor) and wi-fi internet in the common area (covering the lobby / bar, sun terrace and in some of the rooms on the second floor). The breakfast room is on the first floor with windows that can be slid to the side to make the room more of a terrace. It serves a breakfast buffet from here. The breakfast room operates as a restaurant in high season but not on a daily basis and only for its own guests. Dinner is popular and straightforward and usually offers pasta dishes, fish and meat. There are sea views from the breakfast room / restaurant and access to a small outdoor terrace with soft furniture. In the hotel there is also a snack vending machine (2nd floor), where you can buy water, beer and snacks.
You can choose between different room categories on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, ranging from small standard rooms without a balcony and superior rooms with a terrace and panoramic sea views. In addition, the hotel offers five family rooms, which are characterized by being spacious, more independent, with a fridge and some even with a kitchen. Four of them are located in a separate building near the pool, while the latter is about. 400 metres from the hotel. We advise you to choose the rooms in the main hotel if sea views, the decor and the hotel atmosphere are important to you - and otherwise family rooms if you value the space and independence more so. Rooms in the hotel itself have no mini-bar / mini fridge, but the hotel has a few available (limited number), which can be pre-ordered and installed in your room during the stay (no surcharge). The room categories Classic Plus and Superior have air conditioning, while the other categories have a ceiling fan. Plus the rooms have both.

Fantastic hotel with view towards the Ligurian Sea. Great room, great breakfast. We had two amazing dinners at the hotel. The hotel felt familiar, very nice for relaxation, since it isn't located inside Moneglia.
The train station is only 3 minutes away and gives you a perfect opportunity to explore Cinque Terre and nearby areas. The rooms are facing the Mediterranean sea and have a wonderful view. Just a few steps away from the beach
Just got home from Hotel Leopold in Moneglia. Liguria is definitely a place we would love to return to. A lovely and clean hotel, located on a sloping hillside. With only 26 rooms and direct view, the hotel had this homelike intimate atmosphere, where it was easily to speak to the other guests. Moneglia city is a cosy little town with a lot of different facilities and nice restaurants. And especially 'Schiamadda' that we visited several times. Of all places, this one had the best food and service. And we will recommend to go and visit the church across the well-known bakery. Its not much from outside, but very beautiful decorated inside.
Fantastic hotel with magical view. We were more than satisfied with the hotel, and the owners were kind and accommodating.
The rooms were small, but have charm. However, air conditioning isn't available.
We had three lovely days at the hotel.
The view from there were fantastic.
The swimming pool area is great and from there, there are also a lovely view.
The host couple is kind and accommodating, but has enough to do, since they are the ones, who are responsible for most things.
The food is first class, but get to breakfast early, if you want cheese and such. Not everything gets filled up.
