The air is clean, the tourists are few and the gardens are exotic in this pretty setting. The ambience is intimate and welcoming and the two farmhouses with double and family rooms are surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean gardens with lemon, orange and fig trees. Also, you will find three restaurants within walking distance of the villa for when hunger calls.
The strength of this place lies in the peaceful surroundings, the beautiful views and the many outdoor areas dotted around the grounds of the estate. The swimming pool which was built in 2012, comes with sun loungers, parasols and showers. Villa Gnocchi also has two common rooms available to guests and the breakfast buffet room. Weather permitting, you can enjoy eating breakfast on the terrace.

Transportation and distances
There is free parking on site - note that the descent to Villa Gnocchi is very steep. If you need to eat in the evening, there are 3 - 4 restaurants in San Lorenzo delle Coste within approx. 200 m (up). There is approx. 20 minute walk down to Santa Margherita (it takes longer to go up again), where you will find bars and a multitude of restaurants and shops. This is also where you can enjoy Mediterranean waves with the possibility of a dip in the sea on a beach with sand and pebbles.
Note that taxi prices are high in this area, but there is a bus service between San Lorenzo and Santa Margherita all day if you want to leave the car. During spring and autumn the last trip is at around 20.00, while during the summer there are later departures until about midnight. From Santa Margherita you can take a train to Genoa and Le Cinque Terre. We strongly recommend that you come by car, but if you do however wish to arrive by public transport, the host Roberto can pick up guests free on arrival from the station. This must be agreed in advance - and you should expect a little wait if he is busy with other things.
Rooms with balcony / terrace:
- The 12 rooms are spread over three buildings and are all nicely decorated with antique furniture and parquet floors / tiles. They all have air conditioning, a mini-bar, safety deposit box, TV and a bathroom with a toilet, hair dryer and shower (one with a bath). Many of the rooms have space for an extra bed. One room consists of two adjoining bedrooms (family room - but also ideal for four adults) with a covered terrace (no sea view). All other rooms have views of Tigullio bay and the greenery, and all rooms have either a balcony or terrace.
Two great weeks at this lovely place. Very nice people at the agriturismo, we even liked the dog the had. Clean and beautiful everywhere and they did everything for us to be satisfied. We were offered a big room with own terrace in stead of the room we already booked. It was because we were staying there for such a long period. Perfect service and very helpful when it came to giving us advise how to plan our excursions. They always replied us nicely.
We were here a couple of days, and it is a pretty place.
The family room was practical for two adults and two children, with a private outdoor area. Good pool. Distance to the city is okay, if you have a car or like walking a bit.
There are a couple of restaurants nearby. The host was present every morning and was very helpful, and had tips about what there was to do, and see.
Family-mood and lovely reception by Roberto. Lots of good advice about things, we could visit. Fantastic villa and sublime view. Everything was simply perfect.
Very professional and sympathetic reception from Roberto. "What do you want to experience?" he asked us immediately. He gave us train schedules and advice for planning, etc. Beautiful rooms with a view over Santa Margharita and the bay. There was 2-3 restaurants, we could reach on foot. The pool is big, the peace is absolute and breakfast was varied and served on the terrace. Bravo, Roberto! Be aware that, you have to take the first exit, when you arrive. The roads are a bit narrow. Don't forget to visit Villa Durazo and the park nearby.
A wonderful place with a wonderful view, nice hike areas, close to Cinque Terre, a sweet and kind host with a good sense of humor and a great knowledge of the area.
A wonderful place and wonderful experiences. The host Roberto greets you when you arrive, and tells about options for tours and eateries in the area. The accommodation is tastefully decorated and the view of the Santa Margherita bay from the terrace and the swimming pool is beautiful. The breakfast is impeccable and is consumed on a nice terrace. In the evening there are 4 good local eateries. Restaurant Cigae was the biggest experience (not for children), but Trattoria degli Ameci probably feels best in the most taste.
The Portofino Peninsula is exciting in many ways. It was very hot while we were there so we did not get the walks that are also possible. In return, the pool used a lot.
