For a small village, you will find that there is quite a vibrant atmosphere here. You can wander the lakeside promenade and the small, charismatic alleyways in the town. You will find some quaint specialised shops in the pedestrianized street Via A. Manzoni where you can also find a nice place to eat lunch or dinner, two small supermarkets and a bank. For a romantic evening, head to the restaurant on the lake's shore where you can dine and watch the moon set over the lake. There is also a small beach here from where you cool down in the lake. Bellano is about. 4 ½ km north of picturesque Varenna in the central part of Lake Como.
If you arrive by plane to Milan, you can take a train from the central station directly to Bellano in around an hour. Equally, you can take a trip from here to Milan for the day and return to the lake after a hectic day in the city. There is parking available (both free and pay) in Bellano if you arrive by car. If you are visiting other places on the lake, then you can easily get about using the ferries to Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Gravedona for example. There is a large supermarket calledIperal, just north of the town of Colico (about 20 miles north of Bellano).
