Como is not a place to go if you are looking for a bargain. On the contrary, all services are quite expensive. With a reason though, if it wasn’t interesting, scenic and simply beautiful then George Cloony would have never shot the Nespresso commercial here, nor would he have bought a small summer retreat around lake Como.
The hotel dates back to 1898 and was named at that time Hotel Plinius. At that time the large palace at the lakefront was already standing out amongst all the other hotels in the city. In 1992 it changed her name to “Palace Hotel” and took advantage of that by increasing the room capacity by adding the adjacent wing “the Pianella”
The style and atmosphere that you experience today is the blend of the present time and the rich past.
We do not need to convince you that there is plenty of activities to experience in and around Como. The hotel is centrally located and a perfect base to explore the lakes region by boat, car or even on foot. In the city there are dozens of options for restaurants and shops, but we suggest you should pay a visit to the cathedral and the Romanesque churches. And in villa Olmo they often host prestigious art exhibitions. And when it is not steaming hot outside you might be even interesting in a few musea in the near area. If you would like to explore Lake Como you can even take a hydro plane to watch everything from above. Though, a tour by boat is also very relaxing.

Back to the hotel where the service is good and professional. We are sure the breakfast is loved by everybody, as there is a very wide selection of products available. The main restaurant is partly outdoors in season and serves you a blend of local, Italian and International cuisine. The recipes of the chief focus on fresh and seasonal ingredients and all biological. From the restaurant you have good view on the old docks and partly you can see the lake. If we need to state an element that we miss out on, we would like point out there is no swimming pool at the premises unfortunately.
Most of the 94 rooms, are renovated, and smoothly combine a classical style with modern comforts. They offer a good view of the city or a better view of the lake. The rooms all come in different styles and sizes. They are spread over 2 buildings. A historic wing (Plinius) and modern wing (Pianella).
