The town is a good size and a balanced feel about it with a pleasant holiday atmosphere, yet it never seems overcrowded and still retains a tranquil feel about it.
The beautiful lake promenade is adorned with coffee shops, ice cream parlours and restaurants. The towns cultural hub is Palazzo Gallio which is located at the northern end of town. This beautiful building from the middle of 16th Century is host to both concerts and exhibitions. You can also enjoy the town's market day in the centre on the first and third Wednesday of the month. There are good biking routes along the lake so this a great place from where you can start to explore Lake Como on two wheels.
