The name of “Hotel Amerikan” is derived from the family history, where in the old days Italians left to the United States for work. Jospeh, the grand dad of the current generation running the hotel, left to the US and came back after a while. Everybody called him “the American” since. When he started the hotel, this seemed to be the right and only name.
Hotel Amerikan is located right on the edge of Livigno, adjacent to the beginner ski lift. From here you can connect directly tot the Gondola of Carosello 3000. A free bus brings you to the center if you like and stops at 50 meters from the hotel. The center is located about 1.5 km away.
Livigno is a tax-free village located at an elevation of 1800 meters and offers cosy restaurants, bars and boutiques. The tax free village attracted quite a few boutiques focusing on sport, fashion, tobacco and perfume, so if you like shopping, you will be at the right spot. Livigno offers a large range of ski areas with more than 115 km of slopes and 33 ski lifts. You can always ski in the sun, as both sides of the villages offers slopes, unfortunately not connected by ski lifts, only with ski busses. The highest pistes are located at 2796 meters, provide decent snow security in season. Livigno is a good place for nearly all levels, especially novices and beginners. For the real experienced hard core skiers or snow boarders there is less challenge, except off piste.
Livigno is a great place in summer for hikers with great trails as well as for cyclists. The hotel facilitates cycle tours and rental of mountain bikes.

We at In-Italia found hotel Amerikan a good value for money hotel. Not to consider that it is cheap, however the quality of the services and hospitality are up to standard. You can feel that nothing is too much for the people working here and everybody is pleased to help you and to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Of course this is complemented by facilities such as the complete and relaxing wellness and spa, offering sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, relaxation area, fitness area and multiple treatments and massages.
Furthermore if you don’t feel like having a drink or dinner in town, at the premises you find a cosy bar and the chef in the restaurant is pleased to serve you his 4 course menu. The TV room and games room offers a good alternative for some leisure time together.
Free WiFi is found throughout the hotel and storage for your ski gear, is there with heated ski lockers. If you come by car, there is a garage to park your car.
The hotel features 36 rooms in total, 28 in the hotel and 8 in the annex. All rooms are decorated in a bright, warm and peaceful style with good attention. Hotel Amerikan offers three different room types, all feature balcony, sat TV with sky, WiFi, room service, safe, telephone and private bathroom with shower.
