Mezzegra is one of the many quaint towns, located on the waterfront on the west side of Lake Como. From the town there is a fantastic view over the lake and towards the town of Bellagio. Mezzegra is an extremely good base for exploring the surrounding area. The town of Como is only approx. 30km from Mezzegra, and from here you can easily visit places such as Bergamo, Milan and Lugano and St. Moritz in Switzerland. In the immediate vicinity of the town there is the famous Villa Carlotta and its beautiful botanical gardens in Tremezzo. Mezzegra also has historical significance as it was here that Benito Mussolini was executed near Villa Belmonte on 28th April 1945.
