The charming town of Peschiera Maraglio is on the car-free island of Monte Isola right in the middle of Lake Iseo. The special feature of Monte Isola is that it is the largest island in a lake in Europe (about 1,700 inhabitants) and also is car-free. It is a true haven of serenity. At weekends there may well be some extra hustle as many Italians and tourists designate the island as the ideal target for a day trip. There is much to do, for example, one can hike up to the top of the island to appreciate priceless panoramic views and visit the chapel Madonna della Ceriola, stroll along the lakeside promenade or hop aboard one of the small local buses for a tour.

To arrive at Peschiera Maraglio you can take the passenger ferry from Sulzano. The trip takes just a minute and departures are frequent throughout the day. The village is located right on the lake shore and from there you can climb up the hillside along hillside pathways and take in the views of the whole lake and also of Lombardy mainland. The village has a beautiful church San Michele and a fine lakeside promenade which beckons to be strolled along. The village also has a bicycle rental shop, a grocery store, ATM, coffee shops, ice cream shops, kiosks and restaurants (both pizzeria and fish restaurant), located in the small streets with buildings from the 1500's. In addition, there is a small lake beach.
