Colombo Residence

We had 4 wonderful days at the Colombo Residence. Upon arrival we were welcomed and guided around the property. There's a great basement garage with a spot for each apartment. The pool was a tad cold at first dip, but that was probably due to the rainy weather which had just passed. Unfortunately we didn't figure out, how to get bubbles in the spa bath.

The apartment "Nesso" is a big two-room apartment with a bunk bed in the living room, and a bedroom for the adults. Lovely big and functional kitchen with almost all the kitchenware; microwave, dishwasher (with tablets!), tableware (plates, etc., big wineglasses) in a good condition. That just makes sure, that you want to cook on your vacation. The bathroom was equally big and spacious. Towels has to be ordered, either through In-Italia or upon arrival.

The internet works well compared to the other Italian standards in the apartment. The area is locked behind a fence with a pass-code, and so is the basement garage. Nice terrace with room for 8 and a small lawn. The area is well-kept and looks welcoming.

The Spuglia-pizzeria, which owns the apartments, is located right by the driveway. The town only has one main road, and it has VERY heavy and fast-moving traffic. That loses a lot of marks in our eyes, when you are sitting outside and is eating at the restaurant. But the waiters scuttled across the pedestrian crossing, completely cool, with their arms filled. Their food and service is praised a lot on, for example Tripadvisor. They are fun guys, who understands, how to get their guests to smile and laugh, which is lovely. But the food wasn't best we got on our vacation - and not the cheapest either.

When you have walked along the busy road - where a sidewalk is something very narrow - you get down to a nice recreational area with an opportunity for ballgames, ice cream eating, etc. There is a nice lake promenade, which is several kilometres long. There, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the lake and the mountains in the background. There is also an opportunity for sport aquatics on the lake.

A few hundred metres from the apartment there's a local mini market, which has a very nice selection of local specialities as well as fresh vegetables. So there's a big opportunity for purchasing stuff for lunch and dinner. In the neighbouring town there's a bigger supermarket with a wider selection.

As previously written we had booked our stay for 4 days. But upon arrival the landlord told us, that we had the place for the entire week. The place can in the high season, only be rented on a weekly basis (sat-sat). This took us by surprise, and has been passed along to In-Italia, where you can book the place on a daily basis.

Generally we are really satisfied, and we enjoyed our stay at Colombo Residence, both with regards to the apartment (one bedroom) and the staff. The staff was accommodating and helpful.
It was also really nice, that the apartment had a garage in the basement as well as opportunity to do laundry.
However, in the papers it said, that the garage had to be booked in advance, which we hadn't, so it was a lovely surprise, that it was included in the price.
It didn't say that there were an opportunity for laundering either, so another plus :)

Arrival:
In your mail, the arrival has been set to between 15-20 o'clock.
At Colombo Residence the arrival has been set between 15-18.

The apartment:
The apartment appeared nice and clean.
However, it should be mentioned, that the toilet seat was very loose. (We didn't mention this to Colombo Residence, since we didn't want them to spend time on it, while we were in the apartment.)

Pool:
The pool was nice, and as we had expected from the pictures at your website.
However, it should be mentioned, that it was very cold, and that dips in it where limited to 5-10 minutes at a time, due to the temperature...

Above-mentioned comments is of a smaller significance, and definitely doesn't keep us from another stay at Colombo Residence.

Lovely and calm place. We were 2 families living in the apartment with a wonderful balcony turned towards east. The apartment would've been a bit small for 4 adults, 3 teenagers and 1 kid if the weather had been bad, but with lots of sun, summer and heat it wasn't a problem.
Fine small pool and basin for kids.

Sorico is a small, cosy town. Not so touristy.

A small supermarket 'right around the corner', bakes fresh bread every morning and has a selection of Italian hams and cheeses. Lovely, fresh fruit. Only speaks Italian, but can communicate with few English words, sign language and smile :)
