Perfectly located with a view of the lake and the island. There are 2 fantastic places to eat on the island:
La Forresta and Mi Lago

Very small town, however the hotel was absolutely perfect

Super hotel with the best location at the lake shore, nice pool area, bathing in the lake and the best breakfast buffet we have tried at a tourist hotel in the boot country.
The bistro serves small courses of a nice quality, noon and evening.
Fantastic view from our balcony of garden, pool area and lake.
Nice employees everywhere.
Not that good: Air conditioning in the room can only be turned on and off in the reception, and can only cool 3 degrees. That can't be of any use when it's 32 degrees outside, and the sun beats right down on the balcony door, and it's absolutely not okay for a 4-starred hotel.
There could have been 2 chairs on the balcony. Otherwise it is not good for much, when you for example can't sit on it and enjoy the evening with a glass of wine.
You should consider removing the passage where you write: "The hotel is best suited for couples without kids, since you appreciate peace and quiet - and have realised the importance of meeting.........." There were lots of kids of all ages, ball games at the lawn and playing in the pool.

Sulzano is a small town, with traffic going through the town, and absolutely nothing is happening. There is a couple of simple restaurants, which doesn't get too great reviews.
Coffee shop, pizza place and cafeteria is located on the main road with traffic going through. There is absolutely no cosy atmosphere and environment.
We took the boat to the island, rented bikes and rode around the island. We also visited the refuge at the top. It's a really nice trip, which can be highly recommended.
Restaurants: We tried Al Cacciatore which is within walking distance, uptown. It was absolutely not a nice experience. We also tried restaurant La Pernice further up the mountain. That was absolutely okay. At the island we found Hosteria MiLago, which we also can recommend. Here there is a lovely, almost authentic environment at the waterfront in the evening, when all the "tourists" have gone home.

Fantastically good hotel, nice breakfast with a wide selection of cold cuts, cheese and lunch, and good bread. It was great to bathe in the lake, but there could have been another ladder you could use besides the stone ladder. The pool is also great. Good with service in the evening.
But quite narrow streets down to the hotel, and the parking spaces isn't made for bigger cars... We used almost 10 minutes finding a parking spot.

Worth to try and eat at the restaurant Cacciatore, which is located a bit outside of the town itself. But do book a table.
You can take the trip to the island, the bus leaves for Cure once an hour, and then you have to account for around 20 min. of walking to get up to the church. We went on for Iseo, but was unfortunate with our pick for the day, since a lot is closed on Mondays.

Hotel Rivalago Sulzano is a dream with wonderful rooms and the only sound was some soft sounds from the lake. Wonderful service from the young staff. Beautiful surroundings that was perfect for walking. The only thing we could ask for was maybe something simple to eat near the sunset.
