This small but very beautiful area is located towards the south in the hills over Limone. The view over Lake Garda, Monte Baldo and Malcesine is breathtaking. From Limone you can take the winding mountain road up to Tremosine from where you can see the green slopes used for agriculture.
Tremosine consists of 18 small villages, located in the middle of the green mountains - and which one has the most wonderful views of Lake Garda and the imposing Monte Baldo, which lies on the opposite side of the lake.

The scenery is reminiscent of "Summer in Tyrol" - in many respects since the area was formerly Austrian and thus the building styles reflect this. But most of all it echoes the sounds of the mountains and the bells that hang around the necks of the many cows and goats living in the small mountain valleys. The towns are connected by winding and often narrow mountain roads that present challenges for even the most hardened drivers.
If you’re hoping to do a lot of sight-seeing then this is not the best area, as you will have to take the same road in and out of Tremosine, as well as the same route along Lake Garda to reach any planned destination. The area is better suited for shorter trips down to Limone, and perhaps some boating to explore the lake.
The town of Pieve in Tremosine is a town that literally hangs out of the rocks and can be reached along an exciting mountain pass road on your to lake Garda. The road is carved out of a ravine and makes for a fun drive but it is very narrow, be warned. If you have a vehicle that you think is up to the trip, it is worth it because the scenery is stunning and the road takes you in and out of caves in the rocks and past many waterfalls.
