Surrounded by thick woods on the top of a hill in the high valley of Esino, Genga is closed within the walls of a medieval castle.
One of the city's attractions is San Clemente's church from the Middle Ages, which today serves only as a museum with religious props from the 1400s, inter alia, Antonio da Fabriano. Another attraction is the church that Pope Papa Leone XII was built in a cave at Frasassi.
