Welcome to La Maestade, a charming period farmhouse that has been lovingly restored and is now available as holiday accommodation in a peaceful environment. The house is surrounded by a lush green garden which adjoins fields of wheat, sunflowers and vineyards with a mountain backdrop.

Stay in the country with Admiral Pio Bracco

You will receive a warm welcome from the retired admiral Pio Bracco who has forsaken his career at sea for adventures on land. He has developed the Old Vicarage into a relaxing, charming and friendly holiday home. Next to the vicarage, there is a smallish farmhouse on one side and the old church on the other. The place has been restored and furnished in a cosy country style. There is plenty of space by the vicarage and the farmhouse for relaxing, playing boccia or swimming in the new pool. Pio Bracco will prepare supper for those who want it. Arrangements are made on site with the fit elderly admiral who speaks very good English.

Explore Marche

This area is both rich in natural beauty and interesting towns and villages to visit. The nearest town is Smirra, a small and cosy town with a few shops and a restaurant. A bit further (approx.5 km) you will find Cagli which is probably the most beautiful and historically the most important of the towns in the mountainous area that once belonged to the Principality of Urbino. Here there are good shopping facilities and restaurants and markets on Wednesday and Saturday. Talking of Urbino (approx. 30 km) it is also a must visit in Marche. Urbino is one of Italy’s largest architectural treasures. During the 15th Century it was the home to one of Europe’s most extravagant courts and is distinctly Renaissance. The grand palace still remains today as do many museums and other historic and iconic buildings. Approx. 9 km up the road from La Maestade you will enter into the protected area known as Riserva Naturale Gola del Furlo which is a beautiful natural paradise with rivers, gorges and forests.

Apartments for couples

The apartments are large and all have access to a functional kitchen and bathroom. Pio Bracco has always kept up to date with technology and thus has made sure that there is wi-fi internet access for all guests. The signal is not strong indoors due to the thick walls made of stone, but it works great on the terrace. The beauty of the thick walls is that air conditioning is not necessary during the summer period as the walls help to keep the indoor temperature cooler most of the time. We must of course make an exception for the year's warmest days.
