Cannobio is the first town you come to when you arrive in Italy from Switzerland following Lake Maggiores western shore. There is much life here during the summer moths, with buzzing restaurants, squares with cafes and a welcoming atmosphere. Every Sunday morning throughout the year is market day in the square on the lake promenade.

The town or village is considered culturally and geographically as the border between Piedmont and Lombardy and is one of the most atmospheric towns in the northern part of Lake Maggiore. It is considered to be more laid back and sophisticated compared to the flashy and more touristy southern towns such as Stresa, Verbania and Baveno. Cannobio is only approx. 6 km from the Swiss border and is an old village that has retained its historic buildings and beauty in perfect harmony with the lake front and the mountains. Cannobios old town exudes calm, because access by motor vehicles is fortunately not permitted.
