The only downside of this beautiful B & B is that you won't want to leave! A warm welcome awaits you at Fior di Farine, located near to the interesting and historic centre of La Morra, yet 550 metres above sea level with panoramic views.

Make homemade bread for your breakfast

Fior di Farina is part of an old active mill Mulino Sobrino, where the flour produced is sold to the local bakers. Moreover, today they use the flour to bake their own bread which you get to eat at the breakfast buffet. In fact most of the breakfast buffet is homemade and organic. In the small farm shop, it is possible to buy some of their specialties to take home: try, for example, the finely ground cornmeal, which is used for polenta - Northern Italy's 'national dish'. You will be invited to do a tour of the mill where you can learn a bit about the interesting history.

Dine out and leave the car at home

There are several very good restaurants in La Morra, and they are within walking distance so you can leave the car at home and not have to worry about driving and parking. The restaurant Il Laghetto is about a 5 minutes' walk away (see separate description below La Morra and 'Excursions and restaurants). You can also enjoy the pleasant climate on the sunny common terrace which faces the light-traffic road that runs through the town.

Central but quiet

The distance to the centre of La Morra is only approx. 400 metres as the B & B is just on the outskirts of the town. This means that you get to enjoy the beautiful scenery and tranquillity outside of the centre and also all that the town offers just a stones' throw away. There is a famous walk that leads to the town called Il Sentiero del Barolo. It runs right past the house and leads to, among other things the colourful and elaborate chapel Cappella del Barolo.

Common terrace with pool

Fior di Farine has it all. There is also a small pool which has been recently added. It has been built on a terrace on the first floor, reached by a walkway from the main building. On the terrace you will find sun loungers, tables and chairs, outdoor shower and, a few steps up, a pool with hydromassage and opportunity to swim with a counter current. The terrace with pool also serves as partial cover for the car park underneath. The view from the sun terrace is a little suburban and of the main street below, which leads to La Morra's vantage point Belvedere. There is free parking on site in the open courtyard.

Really tasteful rooms

The rooms are particularly tastefully decorated with an almost magical touch. There are five rooms that have been given unusual numbers such as 52, 62, 87, 94 and 2005 and we are told that they are all key dates for the family, such as birthdays and anniversaries. All five rooms are rented as either singles or doubles. Three of the rooms can accommodate three people and one room can accommodate up to five people. All rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, LCD TV, Wi-Fi, a mini-bar, a telephone and private bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. Some are located on the first floor near the little breakfast room and terrace - while others are on the 2nd floor.

A beautiful week in LaMorra

Thanks to In-italia we found a real gem. The hospitality of the owner was great and our room very cozy. The magnificent terrace with pool we used quite often for a snack. The breakfast was mainly done with home-made products and incredibly tasty.
This accommodation we can definately recommend.
The nice thing in-italia is that the accommodations are described in a good way. Exactly as was presented on the website.

Super lovely B&B in La Morra city

This was our second visit to Fior di Farine - and this time the small pool and lovely surroundings were complete, which was really nice in the incredibly July heat. The family that owns the place (and mill) are incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a whole chapter for itself with lots of delicious and ecological delicacies including bread, cakes, fruit, ham, etc. with several different kinds of juice. Well functioning internet and air condition along with a fine "minibar" in the room with space for drinks. Fine parking spaces.

A fantastic place in the heart of Piemonte

We stayed at Fior di Farine for four days in the month of July, and it is in every way a fantastic place to stay in Piemonte.

First of all, the hotel as well as the rooms are nice, cozy and clean.

There is a lovely terrace for relaxation and there is a storage space available for purchased wine on the ground floor, so that it is not needed to drag boxes to your own room.
The breakfast buffet is the best we have experienced in Italy, including all that you might require of yoghurt, fruit, bread, cakes and lovely fruit juices.

One of the special things about Fior di Farine is the incredibly sweet and very helpful owners. We experienced problems with our car, that suddenly needed to go to the shop. The owners helped us to communicate with the italian mechanics, as well as drive us to a car rental, where we could get a rental car.

Finally there is a nice little shop in connection with the hotel with delicious flour and grain products to buy and bring home.

We experienced the town of La Morra as a good choice, as the town contains a selection of lovely restaurants and is less touristy than for example Barolo. There is a very cozy atmosphere in the town.
For the wine enthusiast, La Morra is well situated with many wineries around the town, here is ample opportunity to sample and buy wine of high quality at attractive prices, if you seek out the smaller producers, that to our experience were very friendly and accommodating.

All in all we regard La Morra, and in particular Fior di Farine as one of the very best places to stay if on vacation in the Piemonte region.

Review of B&B Fior di Farine

Lovely big room and bathroom. Nice terrace and pool (was closed in September). The breakfast was really good with a lot of homemade stuff (pastries, bread, etc.).
Great hospitality. Some noise from the road that goes past the house (maybe because of the vintage, which had just started!)
