The Langhe Wine District is home to the world famous Barolo wine, and it would be unusual to come here without trying it! We can recommend a trip to the Gallo Wine Gallery in La Morra where you can choose from over 2000 wines from Piedmont alone. As well as the shop, there is the wine bar next door where you can taste the wine with a good local foods such as cheese, sausage and ham, and local Piedmontese dishes. In Acqui Termi historic centre, you will find the cosy business Oliveri Funghi which has become a meeting place for gourmet enthusiasts over the years. People come to try their mushrooms that are found in the village Piancastagna close to Acqui Terme. This has since been a considerable business with factory and shop since the 1920's. Here, in addition to its pickled mushrooms also buy pickled peppers and other vegetables and sauces such as bagna cauda - there is a special Piedmontese specialty made on a base of anchovies. Piedmont's capital Turin is a city that holds chocolate in high regard, and this is reflected in the annual chocolate festival - Cioccolato - which takes place during March / April. One of the places you can enjoy chocolate and delicious cakes, is at Pasticceria Amore. The store focuses on keeping old recipes alive, some of which date back to the 1700's, which means tasting the world-famous Piedmontese hazelnuts delights.
