The larger town of Acqui Terme is about 25km away, while the Mediterranean Sea at Savona in Liguria is located less than 60 kilometres away. The village is the highest point in this region and it is made up of many stone house and windy streets.
It is known for producing the best goat cheese in Piedmont under the name Robiola di Roccaverano doc - a mild and creamy goat cheese that tastes great. There is a small hotel with a restaurant in town, plus a coffee shop, a post office and a small grocery store. This small community with approximately 500 inhabitants is in remarkable condition. It is recommended to also visit the nearby village of Monastero Bormida, which features both a pharmacy, bank, restaurant, coffee bars and finally a butcher.
