Driving along the landscape at your own pace and let the Tuscan and Umbrian hills, unspoilt countryside slide past your car window. Have a stop in a mountain village and drink an espresso in the shade on the square..Put your patience to the test, when a flock of sheep cross the road in front your car. Here on holiday in Italy, you will probably take advantage of such a memorable situation to get some priceless vacation pictures. Driving along mountain roads with stunning panoramic views of the sea, where a few kilometers down the road, your eyes slide over endless vineyards. And if this above has not given you inspiration yet, go along in the mountains, between the Alps peaks in Piedmont. Followed up by an adventure down through Liguria with mountains to your one side and the sparkling sea with your other side. Italian road trip will trigger all your senses.

The country is in fact created to be consumed with a round trip by car. The picturesque landscapes will form a central part of your holiday experience and we are sure you will enjoy the new experiences every day. A round trip is primarily characterized by the freedom that is given to you every day. Therefore, you do not have to take into account how far away the exciting sights or cities are located. Simply plan your route in the way that you have time to see everything that you like. Select a good hotel bed in places where you would like to make a longer stop. In-Italia assists much in planning or organizing the trip for you, tailored to your wishes.

Popular tour routes by car

Here we have compiled a few of the round trips by car that we can recommend and are among the most popular tours in Italy with our guests:

Tuscany and Umbria - wineries, Italian country products, hills, beaches, forests and medieval villages. Here you will experience the heart of Italy.

Piedmont and Liguria - gourmet food, mountain peaks, lakes, cliffs, historic towns and colorful port villages. This corner of Northern Italy is one of the country's most beautiful areas.

Rome and the Amalfi Coast - combine a city break in the Eternal City where art, culture and architecture is world-class, a beach holiday and nature experiences on the delightful Amalfi Coast.

Whatever Italian regions to explore on your tour, we recommend to take as much time as possible. A round trip should be enjoyed, not being in a hurry, so you have the ability to jump out of the car when you have a sight of an unexpected, charming church or a panoramic view post at the road side.

Information about car rental

It is easy to rent a car in Italy and you will find all the major car rental companies at all airports and major cities in Italy. A suggestion fom our side, when you have put together your tour, pick up the car at one airport and hand it in at the other, the airport of departure. It saves you much driving back and forth. This of course means that you are required to book flights to different airports, which is also easy, especially with the many low cost airlines flying to Italy. Remember to rent a car with unlimited mileage and incl. all compulsory insurances. Last but not least, it is always good to have a car with ample space for luggage during your trip, and especially if you plan to visit wineries and buy some wine to take home. Whether you book car hire for a tour or if you are staying at the same hotel throughout your vacation, then you should always read the rental conditions carefully.
