It is approx. 40 km from Sassari, a little more from Stintino. The airport at Alghero and about a half hour drive from here.
The area was originally known for its mining activity and many people came here in the late 1800's to mine lead and zinc with silver (argento). Following this influx of people, a hospital, water supply and other services were added to the area. Until the mid 1900's it was the largest mine in Sardinia.

Capo Argentiera is an area where the stunning cliffs and small beaches characterize the coastline, with crystal clear sea water and unique colour combinations. Beyond the beach near the town (Spiaggia Piccola and Spiaggia Grande), we recommend a visit to Porri Island, Rugginosu - and the beaches La Frana, Porto Palmas, Rena Majore and the lake Lago delle Vergini and la Banderetta chapter.
