Isola Rossa is the perfect holiday resort for families and couples looking for beautiful and relaxing surroundings. Artists and photographers can also find inspiration here because of the stark contrast between the crystal blue sea, the red granite that the town is based on and the green hills, which tower above in the background. Isola Rossa lies between Castelsardo and Santa Teresa on Sardinia’s north coast. The town grew up around the impressive tower, which dominates the coastline. Later, the town was inhabited by fishermen from Genoa, who moved to the island for the good fishing around Sardinia’s coast.

Just opposite the tower is a large island of red granite, which has given its name to the town; Isola Rossa means ‘red island’. The western part of the town has a lot of one and two storey holiday homes looking out onto the lovely sandy beach. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs, but the town is not overrun with tourists, although there is now a quaint little harbour for their benefit.
