Hotel Su Gologone, located in the heart of Sardinia is certainly worth the trip! The legendary 4-star Hotel offers a blend of blissful natural beauty, and is abundant with soulful and artistic charisma. The beauty is in-fact overwhelming and the welcome and service is as warm and inviting as the surroundings.
Su Gologone was founded in 1967. Initially it started as a small restaurant, and then the active owners decided to build seven bedrooms next to the "restaurant". The small village which is hidden away in the mountains began receiving guests from the mainland", and Su Gologone has since developed its own philosophy of hospitality. The hotel is a unique example of a collaboration between local artisans and producers: everything that is served in the restaurant, all that is sold or displayed - furniture, decor, art, etc, comes from the region, its artists, its farmers, its producers, and its people in general.

Despite the fact that the buildings are over 40 years old, they are well maintained and blend harmoniously into the landscape. The owners have created a comfortable environment where many colours contrast with the Mediterranean vegetation that characterizes the garden. The multitude of local art and crafts all around the place furthermore add to the soul and character of the hotel. The artistic flair does not stop there: Their shop Botteghe d'Arte is well stocked with Sardinian handcrafts including some really interesting pottery and woodcraft, all of which are made by local craftsmen and women. In addition, there is also an olive oil shop and a store at the reception with many original souvenirs.
Su Gologone is officially classified by four well-deserved stars. Here you will find a reception, bar, reading room with a library and the works of some of Sardinia's best artists. There is an inviting pool with a sun terrace, a children's pool, parasols and sun loungers, a small fitness facility with a spa bath, a wellness centre, mini golf, petanque bowling, tennis, a playground and parking. There is another bar with a white terrace and views of the lush green landscape next to the craft shop. Lunch is served by the pool and gardens during the summer. Su Gologone will appeal to those who want peace and quiet in an environment which is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and where there are opportunities to hike in the mountains and visit the nearby caves.
The restaurant deserves a paragraph of its own as it is quite rightly known as one of Sardinia's finest eateries. Pasta dishes are homemade, and meat is one of the restaurant's strengths. Among other things, the lamb and goat dishes are exceptional, but also try the very traditional dish porceddu, which is baked suckling pig. Also try their local ice cream, made with ricotta cheese and pine nuts. The wine list offers local Sardinian wines for every taste and pocket. Finally, try the local Cannonau from Oliena!
The outdoor terrace facing the pool and the valley is a perfect place to enjoy your meal with a relaxed and professional service. The restaurant uses its own colourful pottery, woodcraft and needlework widely to serve and decorate. As an alternative to the restaurant, you can eat at the old bakery shop L'Antica Focacceria , where half board is served once a week in a rustic and cosy setting in the open. Also a few times a week local shepherds at Sa Corte e Su Re prepare dinner, on Fridays the Sardinian tenors perform for guests (NB: they sing popular songs and not opera but despite this they are called tenors in local dialect).
Su Gologone has 18 Classic rooms, 26 Deluxe rooms, 12 Junior Suites and 10 Suites. Each room is uniquely styled and furnished. Classic and Deluxe rooms all have air conditioning, telephone, satellite television, mini-bar, safety deposit box and a bathroom with toilet and shower or tub and hairdryer. Junior suites are larger and have a balcony or terrace, radio, CD player and jacuzzi tub or shower and bathrobes. The suites are larger and also have a balcony or terrace, radio, CD player and jacuzzi tub or shower and bathrobes. In both junior suites and suites Sardinian artwork adorns the walls. Classic and Deluxe rooms can accommodate an extra bed, while most Junior Suites and Suites have room for up to two extra beds. Please note that the extra beds are not real beds, but either pull-out bed or sofa bed.
Because the nearest town of Oliena and other restaurants are some distance away (approx. 8km), we recommend that you choose the half board option. However, you can of course also just book with breakfast and then eat a la carte for dinner as and when you prefer.
A wonderful hotel that we would love to stay at another time. Not luxury, but nice and comfortable.
