You might even spot a celebrity whilst you are there since it is one of Sardinia's most popular towns and is frequently visited by famous personalities. There are many beaches in the area worth trying so you won't all be crowded on just one.

Fly to Olbia airport

Getting here is easy as Olbia airport is just 20 km or less from the town, and is served by many international carriers. Once you are here, we advise that you hire a car to get around and have the most freedom, as public transport services don't always reach the best beaches.

Which beach to choose

There are many beaches along the coast and some of the best are: Liscia Ruia, Cappriccioli, Piccolo Pevero, Spiaggia del Principe and Romazzino. The most frequented is probably La Cinta with its thin strip of sand between the Tyrrhenian Sea and a lagoon which hosts a lot of migrating birds as well as pink flamingos. In many of the beaches you can rent sun loungers and parasols, but for the more remote ones we recommend you take your own parasol as the sun can be fierce during the peak summer months.

Shopping and dining

The town has undergone rapid expansion since the late 1960s, with more hotels and holiday apartments to accommodate it's approx. 32,000 summer visitors. The town centre offers plenty of choice for dining and shopping, plus activities and entertainment during the evenings. Porto Cervo is also good for shopping.
