San Pantaleo was built around a small church which formed a community, and was named after a local priest in 1895. Every year between 27th - 30th of July, the locals celebrate their saint with festivities and folk dancing.

The town is lively during the summer and every Tuesday there is a market in the open air selling authentic crafts. Tourists from all over Costa Smeralda come to visit this market. There is a bank, a pharmacy and a post office in the town and also a few small hotels. Otherwise though, it is tranquil and peaceful.
