Meet the charismatic host

A stay at this charming and well-run agriturismo is an opportunity to discover the amazing Madonie Nature Reserve and the beautiful historic town of Castelbuono. The charismatic host Pasquale has developed a beautiful resort where you can rest or enjoy one of the many possible excursions in the area, not to mention great home cooked food with fresh ingredients grown on the farm.

Discover unspoilt nature in Madonie Nature Reserve

For those of you who love nature and landscapes, you couldn’t have chosen a better place. You are right on the doorstep of a botanical paradise and in a place of extremely beautiful natural landscapes. The park is a protected area with peaks reaching 1,979m in height and covers a spectacular 62 square metres with panoramic vistas on every corner. It is home to more than half of the 2,600 Sicilian plant species. From parts of the park you can see across to Etna Volcano, The Nebrodi Mountains and Nebrodi national park and also the Aeolian Islands. There are endless options for bike rides and scenic walks, and the friendly family at the farm are happy to arrange excursions for you with a guide if required. Restaurant and Slow Food

After a day of exploring Madonie nature reserve, you can return home in the comfort of knowing that there will a wholesome and delicious meal waiting for you if you wish. Pasquale, his wife and his four daughters all work on the farm in various roles to grow and produce a range of products, and Pasquale was in-fact one of the people who started the local Slow Food movement. The restaurant serves tasty dishes based on local ingredients and the slow food principles, served in a warm environment with seating outside or inside.

Castelbuono and Manna

The farm is located on the outskirts of the historic town of Castelbuono. It is home to the 14th Century medieval castle 'Castello dei Ventimiglia' which towers over the old walled town with the walls still pretty much intact. It's a fascinating journey back in time to visit Castelbuono. The town is also famous for producing the prized manna which is taken from the Manna Ash tree and is a recognized herb that is used in cooking and medicine. The town is full of great eateries and shops and we recommend you try dining at Nangalarunni restaurant, and taste the delicacies at the local pastry shop Pasticceria Fiasconaro.

Swimming pool and rustic rooms near the restaurant

The farm has a great swimming pool in the garden with a terrace surrounded by beautiful scenery. The pool is Normally open from April to October (with reservation for weather conditions). You can take a break by the pool on warm days and enjoy the peaceful location. The rooms are rustically furnished and are located in the renovated house near the reception, the restaurant and the owner's family home. There are both rooms on the ground floor with direct access from the ground floor, rooms on the first floor with a balcony and a single room with a terrace. Two of the rooms are very suitable for families, because they consist of two bedrooms with a shared bathroom with toilet and shower - one is located on the ground floor with direct access to the ground, the other on the first floor with a small balcony.

Comfortable and worth the money

Lovely accommodation, good service, family feeling and with Giovanni as a great host. If you order half-pension, then expect a lot of great dishes, nicely made, but if you stay for more than one night they might sow up again - in a changed version.

Hospitality beyond all borders

Arrival late at night. Got a decent meal with a view. Laura asked us if we did not want to eat before getting our room. Just what we needed after a long with with a lot of transportation. Well observed. The rest of the vacation we only experienced good karma and interest for you well-being and what we were up to. They spoke both italian, english and french, so communication what easy. We had ordered half board. A dinner meal consist of 5 times anti-pasti, 2 times pasta, 1 meat dish and finally dessert. So enough to feed a hungry person.

Italian rural idyll - 10 going up

Bergi is a fantastic place. It's incredibly beautifully located. A lovely family took great care of us. We stayed at Bergi for a week.
The restaurant serves extraordinary food. Compared to the restaurants in Cefalu and Castelbueno, which are praised by tripadvisor, this place's restaurant is definitely the best.
Lovely clean pool area. Rooms in a nice condition. No cleaning during our stay, just a change of towel and doing the bed.
The family's dogs is a big hit with the kids. Bergi produces a lot themselves such as olive oil, wych elm seeds and marmalade. Very delicious.
Castelbueno is only 6 minutes away by car. A lovely town both with local shopping and many restaurants.
Only downside was a very unstable air conditioning and a breakfast buffet, where too much technique didn't work. A toaster, which didn't toast, and a coffee maker which didn't work either. And nothing was done, even though we and other guests pointed it out many times.

Fantastic place, beautiful location, delicious food.

Bergii lies very beautifully in the mountains, at the very cosy twon, Castelbueno. We were greeted by a very hospitable and kind host, and felt very welcome. The garden lies down the mountainside, with rooms at the top, and many of them have good views. The garden was very lush, with beautiful path-systems and the pool-area was very nice. All was made in good quality.

The restaurant was fantastic and very authentic. 25 euros for 4 courses. Breakfast wasn't very exciting, when you arrive as expected Danish man.
The place made their own marmalade and honey, which was really delicious.

I would give 5 stars if the room had had a small fridge and a kettle. It was missing a lot.

Beautiful!

We were 2 adults and 3 kids living here at Azienda Bergi for 5 days and enjoyed the fantastic location, the beautiful pool and the good, organic, home made food. The place is uniquely and beautifully placed in the mountains, the hosts are sweet and attentive, and we took an array of fine trips. We were especially happy for the town Castelbuono, which lies 5 mins away, but Cefalu is also nice.

Review of Azienda Agrituristica Bergi

Bergi came right after Villas Costa in Capo d'Orlando - which is 110 % luxury. So we were a bit reserved. But but but Bergi is a lovely lovely place Peace and quiet, lovely pool - fantastic service. Alas - not much more to want....... that would be more time there.

The room is as described. And it works fine fine. As aforementioned we came from the ultimate luxury, which is why we might be a bit more reserved in our praise :)

They make a great breakfast. Delicious homemade products and a good coffee. Yes - it will be a good day. There's the things you need.

We ate at the place all of our days. Partly because the quality definitely was great. So were the price. But maybe, most important of all, it is just so awfully convenient to go directly from the pool to the apartment, and wash off the sun, walk a 100 m., and then sit down and share a great bottle of wine and wonderful food, and then waddle back a couple of hours later. What's not to like?

Castelbuono has several good places to eat. Several went into town and got pizza, and had it on the terrace/the place. That was also an option - we were just too comfortable.

We really enjoyed Bergi, and it was an absolutely excellent end to a great vacation on the island. We can only recommend Bergi. We would like to come back.
