Castiglione di Sicilia is located on the north side of Mount Etna. The story is buried in the town's name: Castelleone, an old fortress which dominated the Alcantara valley and over the years has evolved alongside the island's history. It is a town rich in many things; history and culture, outstanding natural beauty, art and gastronomic pleasures.

Based at the foot of Etna and on the edge of Etna National Park, it's a great base for exploring of course. However there are trips to many other exciting excursions from here. Just outside of Castiglione di Sicilia you will find an old Byzantine chapel, which since 1909 has been branded as a national monument. In addition, you can choose to explore the river Alcantara, which is worth a visit with its world famous canyon like width. If you are golf fan then you will find a great 18 hole course nearby.
