Erice is a peaceful and charming town about 800 metres above sea level, with a wonderful medieval atmosphere. Wandering around the town makes you almost feel that you have time traveled to another era.
Many of the town’s narrow streets are cobbled, which both suits the character of the local houses and adds to the historical feel of the town.

There is a fantastic view of the sea from Erice, both to the north and to the southwest, and on a clear day you can see the salt hills in Trapani. Because of its altitude, Erice also makes a refreshing change on a hot day. The temperature is lower here than down at sea level and in the evenings you might even need to cover up and put on a light jacket and trousers.
