Ficarra is a pretty town located in Nebrodi mountains, approx. 5 km from Brolo where the nearest beach is.
The town is remarkably renovated and differs from many other mountain towns in the area: the municipality has invested more than 60% of the towns budget in "culture" for decades, which means that the most important palaces, city walls and the old roads have been maintained and renovated. In addition, Ficarra is home to a quaint group, who have taken Nebrodi mountains musical traditions around the world.

Close to the towns central square there are two restaurants and a kiosk and several cafes where the locals get their espresso or a glass of wine whilst playing cards. At Ristorante La Badia the food rustic and hearty and comes at a reasonable price. They specialise in meats and charcuterie and cheeses from the area. At the second restaurant - Il Barone - we have not had the opportunity to try the food as it was closed due to the holiday, but we have been told that it is more refined and is good for fish. There is also a popular bar in the Piazza 'New Moon' which has a fun atmosphere and live music most weekends.
