You will be impressed with many aspects of the location here but particularly with the backdrop of the smoking volcano Etna and the peaceful location. You stay just outside the town of Fiumefreddo in a rural environment with many greenhouses dotted around the landscape (which are filled with beautiful and exotic flowers).
You will surely be satisfied with the delicious flavours when you eat at the farm's restaurant which is run by the hard working owners and few assistants. It works almost like an old-fashioned boarding house with hearty portions of authentic dishes being served inspired by Italy's most classic recipes. The wine list is not huge, but you can choose from mostly local wines, and you will also find some great local beer too.
There is a train station at Fiumefreddo around 1.5 km from the farm where you can leave the car and take various trips by train. From here for example it takes around 15 minutes to get to the station of Taormina-Giardini where you have both options for beaches and the historic city. From the station in Taormina-Giardini, you can take a shuttle bus to the town centre of Taormina for a small fee (approx. 1.5 km up a steep hill) or you can even walk. You can also take a train to Catania central in approx. 30 minutes. Approx 1.5 hours away is Messina with its lively port from where you can take boats to the beautiful Aeolian Islands. To get into the countryside and up into the territory of Etna and Nebrodi National Park, we recommend that you have your own car. It is worth the expense as up in the hills you see the most authentic Sicily and unspoilt nature with fewer crowds.
The rooms are fairly simple in their decor in general, but if you choose a superior room, you can enjoy a private balcony facing the pool and the countryside. However there is everything that you and your family need for a comfortable holiday including a small refrigerator, a private bath with a toilet and shower, hairdryer, safety deposit box and a TV with some satellite channels. Wi-Fi Internet connection is included in the price, but it works best in the area by the pool.
We are certain that here you will find a truly authentic part of Sicily, just far enough away from the crowds to appreciate things at your own pace, yet close enough to many attractions. Generally the beauty here is concentrated in the outdoor aspects including the beautiful pool and terrace, and the warm hospitality and good food.
