Mazara del Vallo is located 55 km south of Trapani on the west coast of Sicily. The river Mazaro flows into the Mediterranean Sea. They locals live on agriculture and industry, and survive mainly from revenue from fishing and fish processing. The harbour has the largest fishing vessel fleet in Italy.
Piazza della Repubblica is at the heart of the city with Baroque buildings such as the Bishop's Palace and the cathedral and a statue of San Vito.
