The town of Mirto is located high in the Nebrodi mountains approx. 12km from the north coast beaches. Mirto means 'myrtle in Italian and it is from this plant that the town gets its name. It was founded by the Saracens who it seems have long been forgotten unless you can disregard the Catholic buildings and churches that otherwise characterize this town. We don't offer accommodation in the town itself but on the hillsides surrounding Mirto there are a number of properties available for vacations that offer spectacular views down the mountainside and across the bay to the Aeolian Islands.
