Half way between the suburb of Mondello, which is particularly well known for its beach, and the actual town centre, you find Bed & Breakfast Piana dei Colli in an interesting 18th century villa called Villa Castelforte. Whether you call the style elegant, imposing or friendly is a matter for discussion, but you cannot deny that the place has charm.

Mrs. Gabriella lives in on of the 10 apartments that were converted approx. 20 years ago, when the property was renovated. Her husband and son, both engineers, oversaw the renovation work and since its completion have not been home much. Consequently 2-3 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom in the corridor, are rented out to tourists who want to experience Palermo from this lovely base.

If you choose to stay at Piana dei Colli you need to bring a car because it is quite a way from public transport. Mondello is approx. 5 minutes drive away, and Palermo town centre 10 minutes drive (10 km to the main railway station). The first time you arrive here it may appear a bit complicated to find, because it lies at the end of a private road, but once here we can guarantee a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood.

Breakfast is served either in the dining room or on a covered terrace in the garden. The garden is a sight to behold. For many years Mrs. Gabriella has been the secretary for the Association for Protection of Nature "Lega Ambiente", and she herself has sown and nursed the tropical and exotic plants that grow here. She has flowers from all the continents, and fruit trees with fruit that thrive in the almost tropical climate of Palermo. Here are avocados and bananas, and at times garden clubs and botany students come along to study the plants.

The place is suitable for short stays (min. 2 nights) as well as for longer holidays. If you have never been to Palermo this is a good opportunity to mix trips to the town with relaxing hours on the beach, where you can swim from March till November.  Palermo has all the characteristics of an interesting capital with a blend of cultural and architectural features from three continents (Asia, Europe and Africa).

All the bedrooms are splendidly furnished with a great deal of charm. They all have own bathroom in the corridor and fan plus TV. There is parking just outside the villa.

The price includes breakfast.
IMPORTANT: Children under 12 not accepted.
