The place is ideal for those who love nature, since it is in the midst of a natural setting with no neighbours. Since there are only 8 rooms, there is peace and quiet and from the swimming pool you can enjoy spectacular views of the sea towards the Aeolian Islands.
La Collina dei Nebrodi is located at a vantage point 650 metres above sea level and about. 5 km from the charming town of San Marco d'Alunzio. The road to arrive there is narrow and steep, but it is paved and in good condition, and the view along the way is priceless.
The house was completely renovated in 2007 after the owners had taken it on as a ruin. There are a total of 8 rooms, and a covered terrace where you can enjoy your vacation.

There are views of the town of San Marco d'Alunzio with its characteristic appearance through the trees from the front of the terrace. On a clear day you can catch a glimpse of the seven Aeolian Islands that lie like pearls on a string in the beautiful blue sea on the horizon. From the house there is a path leads up to a belvedere (a vantage point), where there is an even better view of the islands, and where you also can see the island of Ustica and Mount Etna to the southeast.
The views from the lovely outdoor pool are even more impressive! There is a sun terrace with parasols and sun loungers by the pool, and hammocks hung between the tall pine trees that characterize the entire area. There are many benches in the area where you can sit and relax whilst enjoying listening to the birds singing and the peace and harmony that makes this place really special.
Six of the rooms on the ground floor overlook the swimming pool and have views of the sea in the distance. One of the rooms on the ground floor has two extra beds, two of which are in an open loft - the ladder up to the loft is quite steep, so it is not recommended for families with children under 5 years.
They are spacious and simple, but very tastefully furnished. In the house there is a Smart TV with Netflix and Spotify, air conditioning and a bathroom with toilet and shower. On the first floor - at an outdoor staircase - you will find the other two rooms, one of which is a family room with a loft for four people. These rooms on the first floor facing the sea and swimming pool have the same facilities as the rooms on the ground floor. Just outside the top two rooms, there is a large terrace with tables and chairs.
It is possible to rent La Collina as an independent villa and therefore have exclusive access to the swimming pool. The price includes breakfast. If you want to taste traditional food you can do so on request and for an extra fee. It is the owners that are orginazing this nice event. Or you can take advantage of the large well-equipped kitchen to cater for yourselves.
If you choose to eat here, it must be agreed with the staff on the morning of the same day. You can choose what you want or follow their suggestions. We can assure that you will always eat well as here they only use fresh and not least local, organic produce from the San Marco d'Alunzio area. Prices depend on what you want, but are generally reasonable.
We stayed there with our entire family. 12 people where 5 were children between the ages of 2 and 11. A really delightful place, where the farmer who lived next to, came by and had a chat with us over the picket fence, even though none of us speak Italian. It was a really fun experience, and you got to experience Sicily in an authentic way. It's a bit of an adventure to get to the house, because you drive alongside mountain slopes - in the beginning it was a bit uncomfortable, but then you get to know the road, and then you get used to it. Actually one of the funniest memories to look back on from the trip. We were there in the first week of November, some days it was really chilly, around 15 degrees C which was the coolest it got in the morning, and the pool was freezing. You can drive to the coast in about 20-30 minutes with a car, and there the water was around 20-25 degrees, so there we bathed a lot. You have to be aware of the fact that there's cats in the house. They mostly stay outside, but if you've got allergies, it's nice to know. We had an amazing vacation at La Collina dei Nebrodi, a vacation which we will talk about for a long time. It can definitely be recommended.
After a demanding journey from Taormina with blue, overheated motor, we arrived at this fantastic place. Our 8 comrades were already at the place and had invaded the pool. We were 6 pairs in total, who rented it for relaxing, hanging out with our friends, eat Sicilian food and for drinking Sicilian wine. All got their own room with bathroom. I called Sergio, the owner, and told him that we had arrived and had settled in. 15 mins later Sergio arrives at the pool and wishes us welcome. Sergio, all respect for those who cooks us food and serve us these fantastic women, Gisella, his wife, Claudia, and Francesca, his daughters, sister-in-law, Franceska and the omnipresent Daniella. Service above all expectations. We decided what we wanted to eat, and they surpassed our expectations each day. My wife and I had planned to walk to the beach during the day, but only did it once in 5 days. The pool and placement 700 m above sea level made it so we stayed and had a pool party, read, or slept. Lovely! If you wish for some privacy with your family or some good friends, I can't think of a better place! Thank you, Marcus, for arranging this!
A very special birthday was celebrated with the entire family from age 1 to 78.
La Collina is highly recommended!
Sergio and his staff did everything imaginable to make our stay just perfect - despite the end of the season.
We had great weather, between 25-32C and everything was just spot on!
Unfortunately was the pool useless as the water was cold because its normal solar-heated and the autumn sun doesn't burn so much.
But it was perfect to lay at the beach and get some tan and the sea was warm as well.
