Tenuta San Giovanni is located in a beautiful setting on a hill from where you have a breathtaking 360 degree panoramic view of the countryside. No matter where you cast your eyes, you see vineyards all around you. In these vineyards, which cover most of the farm's eight hectares of land, Angelo picks the sweet grapes that are then pressed to make the house's robust wines.
Agrigento provides a beautiful backdrop to this setting, with its great beaches and stunning mountain scenery and the world famous temples. It is around a 1 hour drive from Tenuta San Giovanni down to the water whether you choose to bathe at Agrigento, San Leo, Real Monte or Siculiana. The farm is located in the municipality of San Biagio Platani but the nearest town is actually Sant'Angelo Muxaro which has ancient origins and is known for its Tholes monumental tombs.
The whole house is surrounded by a garden with plenty of space to rest or play. The pool is located right by the house with a sunny and panoramic position. The sun terrace is huge and has plenty of space for all guests, as well the small and the larger ones. If you want to stay in the shade, there is a covered part of the sun terrace where there is also a bar and restaurant.
We can say with confidence that you will eat well here since the family prepares really great food and Loredana is truly a magician in the kitchen: Her food is simply divine. Angelo hikes up and down the hill to find the freshest ricotta cheese (It may be that you do not like ricotta from the supermarket, but here it's just a dream) or the vegetables from his neighbours when he does not have enough from his own land. The meat also comes from the area, and when it is not from the local meat supplier, it's comes from the animals in Angelo's own forests. You do not get small portions here - on the contrary and these wonderful portions should be accompanied by the very tasty wine that is made here. If you wish to eat well, then it pays to stay and eat here, but if you wish to try other local eateries, there is some variety to choose from both in San Biagio Platani and Sant'Angelo Muxaro.
To some with northern European tastes, the rooms might be considered to be a little garish, however this is the countryside in colourful Sicily and you will no doubt be outdoors most of the time. The beds and the furnishings are good though and they are well equipped. The rooms are either located in the main building or in the two wooden buildings in front of the house. Each cottage has two bedrooms, and families will benefit from a small independent house near to the pool. All rooms come with air conditioning, a television and a private bathroom with a toilet and shower.
