Scillato is a small authentic village, which dates back to the early 17th Century where the inhabitants live off the cultivation of oranges, apricots and olives.
The city and the valley is supplied with water from fresh sources emanating from the 30 km. high mountain range Madonie. The area is a protected nature reserve and is incredibly rich in flora and fauna. Among other things, here you can find wolves, wildcats and eagles, as well as a rich variety of butterflies. The hallmark of the city is also the 14 water mills in the area, some of which are still in operation.
