Scopello is a small town, located west of Castellammare del Golfo towards San Vito lo Capo, the small hamlet consisting of a few houses.
The water down at the beach is crystal clear, providing a beautiful place in which to swim and observe the many sailboats that navigate around, and moor in this area. It is also a perfect place for snorkeling and diving for the same reason - the crystal clear water. Scopello is located right on the border with Lo Zingaro , which is a nature reserve between the village of Scopello and the town of San Vito Lo Capo. The nature reserve has a number of impressive caves set in the hill behind the coast which are worth a visit if you like that sort of thing.
The beach consists of mainly pebbles and adjacent rock formations and there is not much shade here. For this reason it is important to remember to bring your sunscreen. Tuna fishing is particularly prevalent in this area and whilst you are here you can visit some of the local fisheries and learn about the impact of the area on tuna fishing and the like.
