Hotel Gutkowski is located on the Promenade of old Ortigia quarter in the heart of town. The nearest swimming is around 300 metres from the hotel and the nearest beach is around 10km.
The hotel was an old derelict house when the owners bought it. They lovingly restored and converted it to a hotel with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere – the hospitality is first class as always in Sicily. Shortly afterward they purchased and renovated another building a few steps away and extended the hotel. In addition to the reception there is a small lounge with a fireplace and an internet connection plus a beautiful and spacious breakfast room which serves a hearty breakfast buffet.

The hotel has 25 rooms which are spread over two buildings. All the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a mini-bar, satellite TV and a bathroom with a toilet and a shower or bath. They are elegant and soberly furnished with beautiful Sicilian terracotta floors and pleasant pastel colours on the walls, especially in the 1st building. The minimalist feature is even more visible in the second building, where there is also a communal terrace with a table and chairs (on the 2nd floor).
There is a lovely hotel terrace with a beachy theme where you can sit and look over the sea wall. It should be noted that some rooms have sea views. If you wish for a sea view, you should be aware that the waves repeatedly hit the rocks below and it can be noisy. There is also a road that runs between the hotel and the sea wall which can contribute some noise when in a sea view room. The rooms of type Plus are somewhat larger than the others but nevertheless have the same facilities.
If you are arriving by car, you should be aware that Ortigia is a an environmental zone in Syracuse, but that it is possible to get right up to the hotel without running into the zone. Parking spaces in front of the hotel are expensive, however, there is a large car park approx. 200 metres from the hotel with very reasonable prices (further details can be obtained from reception on arrival).
