It is the largest ski area along with Campitello and Alba. It consists of narrow quaint streets that run along the old farm houses, modern hotels and interesting shops. The town also has a number of activities and lively nightlife.
Italian is mainly spoken in this valley. Here you will find many old traditions and crafts alive and well and they can been seen in the shops, such as wood carvings and laced goods.
Canazei and Campitello is one of the most well-known ski areas in Italy for northern Europeans, and it is part of the Dolomitti Superski area and Belvedere is part of the famous Sella Ronda ski trip.
It is a very snowy area, not least because of the many snow cannons. From the top of the Belvedere is a very long descent to Arabba from where you can reach Corvara. Conversely, you can take on Campitello and continue towards Passo Sella and Val Gardena.
Canazei is located at 1,460 metres altitude and Campitello at 1,440 metres altitude and the peaks reach upto 2,681 metres. It is a very spacious area with room for everyone and the lifts are very reliable.
To arrive by car from the Brenner motorway, exit and drive up through the Val Gardena and Sella Paso, which is usually navigable or by plane to either Venice (3 ½ hours) or Milan (4 ½ hours). If Passo Sella is closed, drive by car via the Brenner Ora, through Cavalese and Predazzo through Fassa Valley, bring snow chains for the car.
