Albarella, an island of 500 hectares, is located in the middle of the Po-delta Nature Reserve and is connected to the main land by an isthmus. Most of the island is covered in lush Mediterranean vegetation. Cars are strictly limited so it is best to get around using the little local train or by bike.
A series of apartments, a hotel, villas and a golf course are spread all over the island. On the eastern side of the island there is a 2.5 km long beach with the finest sand. Part of the beach is free, but if you want the beach with sun loungers and umbrellas you pay (18 May till 21 September). On the west coast there is a small lagoon with pay beach equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas, and there is also a sports centre with no less than 3 swimming pools.

Between 17 May and 19 September a number of shops and restaurants are open on Albarella including many bars, cafés and restaurants. Here are also a supermarket, baker, fishmonger, patisserie, newsagent, hairdresser, photo shop, laundry, bike hire, clothes and sports shops and ... a church.
Included in the price is use of the island's comprehensive sports- and activity centre (18 May till 21 September). It has three swimming pools (one for children) with slide and springboard, football pitch, boccia, basketball court, volleyball court, playground and roller skating rink. Between 25 May and 14 September evening entertainment is laid on as is a children's club for 5 to 12 year-olds and water aerobics. From 1 July till 20 August a little train runs in the area (mostly for children…).
On payment of a supplement you gain access to the pay beach with sun loungers and umbrellas, the 18-hole golf course (par 72), hire of windsurf equipment, canoes and catamarans, sailing and swimming lessons, angling, horse riding, 24 tennis courts, archery, discotheque and babysitting.
The apartments are found in two areas, Fiordi (in the north west end of the island) and Verde (the centre of the island). They are mostly ground floor and first floor apartments. They all have a kitchenette in the living room, bathroom/toilet and parking.
