Everything has been designed with your comfort in mind, from the cosy rooms, to the comfortable common rooms and the furnished outdoor areas. In a short boat ride you can be in Piazza San Marco in the centre of Venice.
The hotel is next door to the former Casino (where the famous film festival now takes place) and the legendary Hotel Excelsior, though it fails to have the same charm and level of service as Quattro Fontane. If you arrive by water taxi from the airport, you can get within 50 metres of the hotel by boat. In addition you can also take vaparetto No. 20 to the casino now located in Venice central which sails at least once an hour.

The haven that is the hotel garden is a place where you can find peace and quiet and relax under the shade of a large tree, listen to the birdsong and the sound of the trickling water fountain. After breakfast you can take a boat trip over to Venice city. Sit back in the boat and take in the views, as you head towards the island with the whole Venetian skyline in front of you. It is the most beautiful way to arrive at St. Mark's Square. You can take the express boat and arrive in 10 minutes or take a slower cruise which takes 20 minutes giving you all the more time to take in the wonderful scenery.
The building that is now Quattro Fontane has grown up around older buildings on a very interesting historic site. In-fact it is on the site of the original casino which was built in between 1573 and 1575 by Daniele Pisani for the Venetian aristocracy. During the 19th Century this "casino" became a tavern and the noted English poet Robert Browning was one of its regular customers. It is said that he used to take lunch at 11.30am at the Quattro Fontane. Between 1905 and 1926, a new building, inspired by the "chalet" and "cottage" styles absorbed most of the original structure, but some arches, the big fireplace with its typical lion-shaped mantels and the four slender columns of the dining room were preserved.
Quattro Fontane has been thoughtfully designed with the comfort of its guests in mind. It has a small reception, several cosy common rooms, a bar, a restaurant, a tennis court and free parking. The hotel also offers bike hire. Moreover, they have an agreement with a private beach, located approx. 50 metres from the hotel, where you can hire a beach cabin, sun beds and parasols. It is also possible to use the public beach with free access, which is approx. a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
The family's interest in antiques and art is reflected throughout the 60 rooms. No two rooms are alike as they all have individual decorations and furnishings. There are rooms in both the original house and in the extension, which all have a telephone, satellite TV, a mini-bar, a safety deposit box, air conditioning, a bathroom with a shower or bath, WC and a hairdryer. The superior rooms have a balcony (most of the rooms in the extension Barchessa have). Quattro Fontane also offer family rooms for 4 people, with the possibility of adding an extra bed. The family rooms consists of two double rooms with a shared bathroom. The rooms are decorated in a period style, with many antiques and one should not expect to find new designer bathrooms. However, the style is complete and cosy.
Pls. Note, the apartments have no kitchenette for cooking.
Unfortunately, the modern world has had an impact on the Lido and approx. 50 metres from the hotel there is also a small cosy outdoor bar in the parking lot of the Casino which likes to play music in the evenings. If it is a still night, it is inevitable that the music can be heard in the garden, but it always stops before midnight.
