A holiday at Fattoria Sant'Appiano near the charming small town of Barberino Val d'Elsa means that you will be amidst one of the most beautiful areas in the Tuscan region, and that says a lot! The vineyards, fields, and olive groves that cover the land are dissected by charismatic curvy roads, very typical of Tuscany.
This area is surrounded by rolling hills covered with vineyards, olive groves and forests and is most scenic indeed. It’s a perfect spot for nature lovers and for those wishing to take country walks and enjoy good scenery. You'll also find an assortment of medieval towns in the surrounding hills, all with their individual charm. The particularly charming walled town of Barberino Val d'Elsa is just 4 km away where you will find some shops and restaurants and many historic buildings.

The lovely pool of 12 x 6 metres is located in the green garden just downstream of the old barn with beautiful views of the countryside. Around the pool there are sun beds and parasols, where you are invited to relax after a day full of adventures in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. For days out there are many choices. The attractive cities of Florence (approx. 35 km) and Siena (40 km) are within reach for day trips and even closer still are the medieval towns of Poggibonsi - 6 km and S. Gimignano - 15 km.
You can be sure to have your thirst quenched since they produce many types of wine on the farm including a great Chianti, and they also make two types of grappa, olive oil and vinegar. On request, you can take a tour of the wine cellar and see the process of wine production and of course sample the delights and purchase as you wish.
The apartments are a scattered around the farm; two are in the villa, and four others are located approx. 200 metres from the villa on the other side of the road in a converted barn. You can also find the lovely swimming pool (12 x 6 metres) just a bit further down from the barn. All apartments have a private outdoor area with a table and chairs, whether they have a garden, a veranda or a terrace. They also all benefit from having air conditioning and satellite TV. Please note that arrival and check-in should take place before 20:00 hours, as the owners do not live on the farm.

We stayed here as a family and used the apartment as a base for the many trips in the nearby areas.
We stayed at Gerbera and there was a lot of space for everybody.
There were a big room with a sleeping couch, bathroom and a bedroom. The terrace were shared with the neighbor apartment. From the garden, you could have an amazing view to fx San Gimignano.
Its peaceful in the area, nice and clean pool-area with some good facilities.
The nearest grocery shopping can be found at Barberino Valv d' Elsa, about 4 km. Otherewise there is a nice restaurant 200 meters from this place, which serves excellent food.
This place produce their own wine and its possible to arrange some dinner and wine tasting.
It has been a pleasure to stay at Fattoria Sant'Appiano, it is located with a great view of the valley and Poggobonsi. Lovely apartment, a bit worn down, but nice and clean. A very friendly host couple and a good vineyard. The local restaurant serves great food at reasonable prices.
Again we have had a lovely week with sun and heat, lovely trips and good food from the cheesery in town. Remember to order a table.
Great view from the highly located vineyard. Lovely, private view-terrace in front of the apartment and fine, big garden which could be used freely. We lived on the vineyard itself, where there also is a private home. Pool and 4 other apartments were located further down the road - but it worked well. There was plenty of space by the pool.
Lots of options for trips in the area. Fine service from the owner - super tasting of the farms owns produce.
In-Italia made it easy to travel to Italy once again :) Sant'appian was a really lovely place with lots of good shopping options, if you read the description, you will notice that it is in the mountains, which is why we have to point out that you need to drive a lot to get around.
The pool was way too small for the 8 apartments and tenants, so you would walk down there many times in vain, just to see the towels on the sunbeds and chairs, which meant they were reserved for the WHOLE day.
The apartment was really nice, good, big and pretty :) But we had a lot of trouble with ants.
All in all the small pool and the ants are the only things we can point out, otherwise it has been a fantastic trip :)
