Calambrone is situated between Tirrenia (3 km) and Livorno. Only one road leads here and that passes through the pine forest and down to the beach. It is quite heavily used by public transport and cars full of visitors coming to this popular beach.
The beach is made of fine sand, as is the sea bed. There are two lidos that rent chairs and umbrellas, and an area of the beach still remains public. There are cafes, restaurants and pizzerias in most establishments along the main road. in the centre of town there is a bakery, a grocers with basic supplies, and the nearest larger supermarket is towards Tirrenia.
This area had been forgotten for a few decades. Previously during the inter war period, camps for low income families were developed here. As prosperity increased, it become more of a general resort with some large and beautiful homes being built here.
