Agriturismo Castiglioncello is in the Bisenzio valley on a green slope between Migliana and Usella, a few kilometres from the town of Prato. The surroundings are very peaceful and relaxing. Otherwise it is only 5 km to the nearest town Vaiano where you can shop and dine out.
The farm owner Luca cultivates vegetables, fruits, olive oil and honey amongst other things. All of his fresh produce is included in the menu at the farm's restaurant, where you can taste the delights with a good glass of wine. His specialties are primarily meat on the grill or in the large stone oven. One should be aware that the restaurant is open by appointment, hence the need to pre-book.

The house has a lush private garden where the host Luca has installed a swimming pool with a terrace from where there are wonderful views across the valley. It is possible to go for walks on the farm property, and Luca will happily arrange a guide to take you hiking in the mountains. There are only four apartments and two rooms on site, all of which are simply furnished.
Small apartment distributed over two levels. On the ground floor there is a a living room with a kitchenette and a bathroom with a toilet and shower. On the first floor there is a bedroom with a double bed.

The apartment Alloro has an entrance on the first floor and is spread over two floors. The first floor contains the master bedroom with a double bed and TV, a bedroom with 2 single bed, a TV and a bathroom with a shower. A staircase leads to the attic, which is basically an open loft with relatively low ceilings, where you will find a kitchenette (two hotplates) with a small refrigerator and two additional beds. We recommend this apartment for a short stay, as it is difficult otherwise to find a home with so many beds and free arrival and departure.
Room Olivia is on the first floor and contains a double bed. There is a bathroom with a toilet and a shower. There is a private balcony or terrace but you are welcome to use the outdoor table and chairs under the pergola or under the sun by the pool and wherever else you find in the large garden.
We have had a wonderful week in pleasant surroundings. Luca, the owner, has created a little gem where you can relax, enjoy the view, pleasant temperature and if you choose to eat at the place, Luca serves good Italian food. From here you can easily go to Florence and within only 1,5 km. you can reach many cozy, little towns.
We spend a week at Castiglioncello in Florence, and it was an absolutely fantastic stay. We went on trips during the day, and then enjoyed Luca's food. We never got tired of it. Absolutely amazing. Besides Luca was very hospitable, and were there, if you needed anything. An extra plus is, that the place has a beautiful pool area, and slopes were perfect for small hikes. We are definitely returning!!
We had a lovely week at Luca at Agriturismo Castiglioncello. We were 2 adults and a child, so there were lots of space in the apartment "Noce". It was well-equipped with a kitchen, a big fridge with a freezer, gas cooker and a small oven. We cooked ourselves several days, and we ate under the pergola with wine and kiwi plants twined around us, right outside the apartment, where we also had our breakfast and lunch.
We had booked the apartment at the same time as a couple, who are friends of ours, who stayed in one of the other apartments, and together with a few other guests, we could enjoy the peace and view from "our" slope.
The pool isn't big, but enough for lots of hours of play and fun for our and the friends 11 year old girls, as well as a cool ducking for us and the other guests. There's plenty of sunbeds and parasols, and you can also lie in the shade of an olive tree. Very idyllic! The evenings were spend with card games and fun on the terrace, if we weren't in town to have a good dinner.
The only downside, we experienced, was some a bit worn down beds and an inability to hang towels and wet clothes out to dry (but it worked out anyway). Furthermore, you have to aware of the fact, that upon departure you need to pay in cash. That means that utilities, food, drinks, etc you bought at the place, has to be payed in cash. You can't use credit card, which surprised us a bit. In return, Luca offers to drive with you to nearest ATM, when you leave.
All in all a lovely place in the middle of the Tuscan mountains.
We enjoyed a week at this beautiful place. Luca and his wife were extremely hospitable, attentive and helpful.
Luca planned a whole evening with delicious wine tasting, followed up by a 4 course menu and a trip to Florence with view by night.
We could only speak good of the food at the place, made by products from own yard or nearby ones in the area.
If you had questions about trips, etc... Luca is very helpful and a good guide, he knows his Tuscany and will gladly drawn and talk about your map.
We would gladly return and this time it will be for 2 weeks.
We had a lovely week at Castiglioncello - good apartment, fantastic surroundings, good service and lovely food.
