Experience life on a real farm

The main income at the charming Tenuta Cantagallo still comes from agriculture as it has done since the 1800's, but now there are also apartments which you can rent and enjoy as slice of life on a real farm. The farm is picturesque in the midst of a landscape most will perceive as typical Tuscan, characterized by rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and cypress trees.

Time to get physical (optional of course!)

A stay at the farm means you can enjoy a most picturesque setting in the middle of a landscape that most people would describe as typically Tuscan, featuring soft hills, vineyards, olive groves and cypresses. The hills surrounding the farm are criss crossed by paths, so there are plenty of opportunities for walking or biking. It is also possible to get around on horseback as there are a number of stables in the area. The farm has more than 230 hectares of land and the facilities include a tennis court, a small football pitch, and playground for children, not forgetting the swimming pool 7 x 15 m which is surrounded by sun beds and covered terraces with tables and chairs.

Join in the wine tasting

The owners also arrange wine tasting in their home from time to time and there is a restaurant on the farm which is usually open on the weekend. If you like to explore a bit, the staff here are very friendly and will happily advise you of where to go for the best day trips and direct you to other local restaurants.

Spacious apartments

There are eight apartments nest to the old main building, all with a typical rural Tuscan interior design. The furniture is simple and rustic, but solid. All the apartments have kitchen facilities, a bathroom and TV and they all benefit from a central heating system so they are an all year round holiday option. The kitchen facilities include a stove with gas hobs and an electric oven, and they all have a private terrace. In addition, there is a rather delightful communal terrace and viewpoint on the farm overlooking Capraia and Montelupo.

Where you can visit

Distances: Montelupo Fiorentino 2,5 km, Vinci 13 km, Florence 25 km and Pisa 60 km.
From the station Montelupo-Capraia you can travel by train to Florence in approx. 30 minutes.

Rustic charm and beautiful surroundings

Lovely place with lots of rustic Italian charm, it isn't luxurious, but very lovely and there's a fantastic view. There aren't many guests, so you have your privacy. Super good pool, and Julia in the reception is very kind and helpful. The place is close to Florence, Pisa and Lucca, and it's easy to get there.

Cooking

Hello,

First of all, we had a wonderful stay. We had been there before and we knew what we were in for.
I would certainly recommend a visit of Sienna which is only an hour away by train.
The service was perfect and the restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. Excellent cooking!!!

Talking about cooking. It would be nice if the kitchen was better equipped. Pots and pans are old and damaged. We love to buy local food and cook it the Italian way.

The internet connection is very unstable. You can't rely on it when the office is closed. In the apartment we had a Wifi transmitter, but it isn't connected to the net!?! There is no "net-output" in the apartment!?! We were told that it isn't necessary. That is the comment of someone who doesn't understand what they are talking about.(ex. "no way to watch tv if there is no antenna")

We will surely recommend the place to our friends.

Sincerely,
Frank Struys
