This adorable little village offers everything that Tuscan dreams are made of. Casole d'Elsa dates back to the Middle Ages, and when you see it perched on its high hill, dominating the landscape, you will have no doubt that it succeeded in defending its territory throughout the ages.
At one end of the village is the massive fort, down the street is the picturesque church, and between these two are a couple of restaurants, cafes and shops, not to mention a baker who makes excellent bread. Although Casole d'Elsa is largely unknown to foreign visitors, is it good base for tours to famous cities since it is only 21 km from San Gimignano, 35 km from Siena and only 13 to the charming town of Colle Val d'Elsa.
