Here between Greve in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti, all you see are vineyards, olive groves, hills and woods. It's just so typically Tuscan!
Borgo Sicelle was once a tiny village - with its own church - and the locals farmed the surrounding land. Here you can stay in a spectacular location in the midst of central Chianti, with incredible views over the landscape that have made Tuscany famous the world over - and justifiably so. From here you can enjoy the most wonderful Tuscan sunsets with a glass of Chianti in hand.

There are still a few farmers left in some of the houses, and the church stands proud, but the central buildings have now been converted to 10 apartments which are rented out on a daily basis. The actual location of Borgo Sicelle is reason enough for choosing to spend a few days here, not only is the scenery picturesque, but San Donato is only a few km away and here you have access to the Siena-Florence motorway.
Today the main road cuts through Borgo Sicelle, but not many of the locals or tourists would consider using this small road, so any traffic nuisance is kept to an absolute minimum. The farm has a swimming pool (12 x 6 m), washing machine, barbeque, table tennis, children's play area and a warm welcome. The village piazza, with the restaurant 'Osteria alla Piazza' is only 1600 metres away, and just a little bit further on the other side of the road (next to the church) is a "wine bar" that serves light dishes.

This place is quiet a find if you like the peace and quiet of the countryside, but not if you want the city sights. Beautifully restored and located with lots of room in the apartment, and amenities outside, washing, barbecue, leisure room and pool - though in early October I gave that a miss! Only criticism is that the kitchen area is a bit tight on space and could be brighter.
It's definitely on the 'go back to' list.
