The 4-star Hotel Osteria dell'Orcia lies in the heart of the breathtakingly beautiful and secluded valley Val d'Orcia in southern Tuscany.
The delightful old building dates back to the 17th century and for hundreds of years it served as a mail station on the road between Siena and Rome. The horse drawn mail coaches drove through the large gate and travellers were accommodated on the first floor, where there was a dormitory and an inn. At the end of the 19th century the building was changed to meet agricultural needs. In the 1950s it was abandoned during Italy's economic miracle, when many moved from the country to the cities. In the 1990s it was renovated with all due respect for the original features, and a hotel with restaurant emerged that can satisfy even the most discerning guests.

The hotel bedrooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, mini bar, telephone, safe deposit box and en suite bathroom with massage shower and hair dryer. Part of the charm of the place is the fact that no two rooms are alike. During renovation a conscious choice was made to prioritise authenticity and individuality higher than uniformity.
The hotel garden has a refreshing swimming pool for the guests, and mountain bikes are for hire in order that guests may enjoy a ride or two in the beautiful valley. Less than 5 km from the hotel are the charming small towns of San Quirico d'Orcia and Castiglione d'Orcia.
Dinners and lunches for smaller parties can be arranged to order in the hotel's atmospheric dining room.
