Who has ever heard of Cerreto Guidi? Even in Tuscany, most will not recognize the name. It usually helps if you mention some of the known neighbouring towns such as: Vinci (where a certain Leonardo came), Empoli (which has a football team in Serie A), or if you mention that the town is located 35 km west of Florence in the middle of a beautiful hilly countryside characterized by olive groves and vineyards. The commune of Cerreto Guidi has only 10,000 inhabitants, but only a few thousand of them live in the town where you will find shops, restaurants and a nice little church, Chiesa di San Leonardo, whose origins date back to 900 century.
